Udaipur/Chittar highway

I'm in Udaipur now. Just for my fellow travelers, there is an honest-to-Pete highway between the cities Udaipur and Chittar. It has two lanes each way. There are no cows, pigs, camels, children in the road. God bless 'em the drivers stayed in their own lanes, except while passing. There was little to no honking. I'd guess my bus made a very respectable 90 kmph while on it (about 55mph). It was very nice, while it lasted.

Hey ,

I got your mail!! Sorry for not replying in time though(Indian Standard Time) :-). This blog is wonderful and I keep reading it. My India trip is not materialising at this moment. So chances of meeting you up there look rather bleak.

I actually drew up a list of places for you and Bundi was there on the list!! I made the trip to Bundi with my Dad once when I was in junior high school, and found the place to be truly amazing. The fort and the lake and all the other stuff. I think its one of the undiscovered secrets and doesnt have much of a tourist population.

I guess a nice idea would be to head to the east if you can. Bengal's my native place(thats where my family comes from originally) though I spent most of my life in Delhi. If you can, go ahead and check out Sikkim, I have heard that it's amazingly beautiful.

Good to hear that you are safe after the blasts. Everyone in my family is safe too.

Well do keep posting. Its nice to hear about home from a foreigner's perspective and especially when the foreigner happens to be a friend and a classmate.

If you have a number where I can call you, do mail it to me at shankha@shankha.net.

Hindustan Zindabad!! Long live India. :-)

Adios,
Shankha
